Purcell projects make major awards shortlists

24 June 2024

Awards season is here and once again Purcell have made it on to some of the most prestigious shortlists in the industry. The National Portrait Gallery was this week one of 15 international projects to be shortlisted for the Architectural Review AR Public Awards, celebrating open and accessible public spaces.

The winning public space along with highly commended and commended projects will be announced online in July and published in the AR July/August issue.

One of the first of what we hope are many shortlist announcements for our collaboration with Jamie Fobert Architects, the project also recently picked up a RIBA London Regional Award. Two other London projects, Battersea Power Station (with Wilkinson Eyre) and the Hampstead House (as Heritage Consultants with Coppin Dockray) were also awarded RIBA London Regional Awards at RIBA HQ earlier this month.

The big winner at the RIBA Regional Awards however was Auckland Castle. A collaboration with Niall McLaughlin Architects, it scooped up three awards on the night: RIBA North East Project of the Year, RIBA North East Conservation Award, and an RIBA North East Regional Award.

We are also thrilled to share that we have been shortlisted for Building Design's Architect of the Year Awards in three categories: Creative Conservation Architect of the Year, Social Value, and the WA100 International Architect of the Year Award.

NSW Parliament House Chambers Project, in Sydney Australia, was awarded a National Heritage Trust Award for Interiors & Objects.

Ledston Hall in Leeds and Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk were both successful in the Yorkshire and East of England RICS Regional Awards, both winning in the Heritage category.

The Manchester Museum looks to continue its awards streak – the project was nominated for AJ100 Community Impact of the Year and an AJ Architecture Award (Cultural Project) following a triumphant evening at the Civic Trust Awards, where it won the Selwyn Goldsmith Award for Universal Design. It has also been, alongside the National Portrait Gallery, shortlisted for the Art Fund Museum of the Year Award.

Boston Manor House is also nominated for the AJ Architecture Awards in the Heritage category and was also shortlisted for a RICS Award in the Heritage category.
