The Glasshouse at The Grove Hotel wins an International Hotel Award 2020
Purcell refurbished and developed the signature Glasshouse Restaurant and Bar at the Grade II* Listed Grove Hotel, a 5-star retreat in Hertfordshire.
In addition to glowing reviews and an uplift in use, The Glasshouse Restaurant and Bar has won an International Hotel Award 2020 for the Restaurant Within an Existing Hotel category. The award commends design and offers inspiration across the hospitality industry.
The Grove Hotel was built by the Earl of Clarendon in 1720 and is described as “London’s Country House Estate”. The hotel features 217 rooms and suites, three restaurants, a luxurious renowned spa and an award-winning 18-hole championship golf course.
Purcell has a long and proud history of working with The Grove across numerous projects, and our work to The Glasshouse Restaurant and Bar has increased and improved the kitchen facilities, connected the restaurant to the hotel’s beautiful gardens and improved guest experience.
This included the installation of 8 kitchen theatre stations, including “The Crustacean Station”, “The Robata Grill” and “The Carving Station."
Purcell also designed The Glasshouse's extension, a bronzed-metal, glazed triple-height space, replete with kinetic sculptures which has created an inspirational environment in which the hotel’s guests can dine in style.
As our team has a vast experience in prefabrication and offsite fabrication, the project was delivered in four months and The Grove remained open, operating as usual throughout.
Purcell’s transformation has created a contemporary jewel which has significantly increased the hotel’s offer, maximising its assets whilst safeguarding the building’s heritage and original design.
